Once a Child, Always a Child

I'll start by agreeing with this fact: reading week is not for reading. But apparently in my case it's not for homework, writing a blog entry, spending any time with my parents, seeing my brothers more than twice...and relaxing, ostensibly...

My reading week was so unproductive that I actually was busy with doing non-school things. This was easily the craziest reading week of my life. I got no homework done, I had a total of about 4 hours downtime the whole time, and struggled to even see everyone I wanted to. Don't get me wrong, it was a great week, but it turns out I got stressed from all the more-or-less non-stressful things. In fact, running around so much, going uptown and downtown so often, I started getting headaches! No joke! From basically Tuesday until Friday, I was so busy that I had a headache every night. I don't even get headaches very often. At all!

Anyway, here's the wrap of the week:

Saturday: Basically brought my stuff home then immediately went back downtown, met up for dinner, and went to see Frost/Nixon, which is an unbelievable movie. Trust me, it's not just them sitting and talking for the whole thing. It's much better than that! If you're interested in watching it though, please look into the Watergate scandal. My friend and I had to explain parts of it to friends during the movie.

Sunday: Bread and Cheese! Although super rushed, we managed to get in our traditional grilled cheese lunch on a weekend. Afterward, went to Michael's to get more crocheting supplies. I got blue and red and multi-coloured yarn. It was sweet. Sunday night was family dinner, which I had a friend join me for (which was awesome), and then hung out for a while.

Monday: The First Feilchenfeld-Ermel Bake-Off! This dominated my day, as I had to bake and prepare a bunch of dishes for the challenge. My triple-chocolate banana muffins, standard tea scones, and blueberry pie were all successes. It was a really fun event and there were 9 tasters and 6 judges! In the end, I lost by just 17 points, and considering that it was out of 600 in total, I was impressed by 417. My challenger, my friends mom, won with 434. My downfall, apparently, was plating. My pie didn't cut well, so unfortunately it looked like shit on the plate. I did, however, win the taste category for my scones! That night at dinner my brother's girlfriend surprised me by coming even when she said she wouldn't. After dinner, watched the movie Life is Beautiful then got Bubble Tea.

Tuesday: I'm gonna be honest in saying I don't have any recollection of what I did that day. But it was busy.

Wednesday: 9.30 Allergist appointment. I'm allergic to trees, ragweed, and cocklebur. Noon, lunch with a friend. 5.30 massage, it was ok. 8.00 surprise, which turned out to be a couple plays...one was bad, the other was passable. Busy day!

Thursday: Sushi lunch! Then a hockey game with my dad. Columbus Blue Jackets at Leafs. It was a great game, of course the Leafs lost. It turns out I have a newfound interest in hockey! Also, the game was at the ACC (of course), and it was really funny because I saw Coldplay there last summer with Sun Girl and Grey Eyed Girl, and they played "Life in Technicolor" before the show...and also before the hockey game when I went! It was awesome.

Friday: Cross-country skiing! My brother and I went up to a place to ski, and after like 4 hours we were totally pooped. After I got to spend a small amount of time with my mom going grocery shopping. Then, a sushi dinner, and then...He's Just Not That Into You. It was ok. Definitely entertaining, a little too over the top at the end. Scarlett Johannson is one of my favourite actors and I just HATED her character. I know it has nothing to do with her, but still, the character bothered me. Ginnifer Goodwin's character bothered me too...she is the epitomy of awkward, but she did a great job. And of course I'm a fan of Justin Long.

Saturday: I cancelled my plans, and then just...hung out! I watched the first three episodes of the new season of Flight of Conchords, the third episode is AMAZING! Then got a ride to Whitby and my roommate D drove us back. Then I did basically nothing the rest of the day.

And that's my insane week. If I made plans with you this week, I probably can't do it. I've cancelled everything except for the Oscar's tonight and Cultural Oureach next weekend (SO EXCITED!)

No portion of the story today. I have to get back to work!
Stay frosty!

i don't think you were supposed to like scarlets character. and yes the movie did have a ridiculous ending, but who goes to the movies to be hit with reality. that's what you go to the movies to escape from.

sounds like you had a busy week, hope you're feeling better
